Why Testing Matters More Than Price
Saving USD 0.50 per unit on untested fireworks costs you far more in: customer returns and complaints, damaged retail relationships, potential legal liability, customs rejection if products fail destination-country testing. One bad batch can destroy years of market-building. Testing is insurance — and the cheapest insurance you will ever buy.
The 5 Essential Tests
1. Function & Performance: Does the firework ignite, function, and produce the expected effect? Tested by physical firing of random samples from each production batch.
2. Fuse Burn Time: Is the fuse within legal limits for the destination market? US: 3-9 seconds (CPSC). EU: varies by F-category.
3. Burst Symmetry & Altitude: Does the shell open evenly? Does it reach the specified height? Critical for display shells.
4. Chemical Composition: Are prohibited chemicals present? EU: barium ≤ 500mg/kg, lead ≤ 100mg/kg (REACH).
5. Thermal Stability: Will the product remain stable during shipping and storage? Tested under elevated temperature conditions.
Documentation You Should Demand
Before your container ships, demand: raw material test reports (chemical analysis from an independent lab), in-process QC records (temperature, humidity, batch traceability), live-fire test video (showing YOUR products being tested — not a generic demo), compliance certificates (CE, DOT, AFSL — verified by checking the certificate number online). If they cannot provide all of these, they are not testing properly.
